[Wordpress issuses] drphilsan on "Can't seem to reverse the 'private' option"

Hi,
When I created my new blog, I checked the "I want my blog to be private" setting, thinking I could reverse that option once I would be ready to publish. However, my "about" post does not show up in search engines, even though I have followed these instructions:

What am I doing wrong? I thought of deleting the site and starting over, but I don't want to lose my address.
