[Wordpress issuses] drao on "Theme change"

I have tried several times in the last week to change the theme of my blog. As soon as I click ACTIVATE, the page either does not react or shows an error HTTP500 which suggests the website is either under maintenance or that it has a programming error. Could you please help? Thanks
