I would value a system that automatically numbers the footnotes and creates the links. So, for example, if I reorder paragraphs, the system would reorder and renumber the footnotes to keep them sequential.

That automation is what I'm accustomed to in Google Docs. I've found a WordPress plug-in that adds the functionality I'd like:

but I can't find any such support on WordPress.com?
