Include Tag or href title in Navigation Tabs instead of post title

Hi there,

I need to achieve a slider which displays something other than the post title in the navigation tabs .. like a tag or image title or any manually supplied value. For example ... if the Post Title would be "Miami Heat win NBA Championship" I would like the Navigation Tab to just read "NBA" to hint on the context of the slide. Or ..if the post title would be "Snowden escapes from Hongkong to Moscow" I'd like to just have "Snowden" in the navigation tab. (Basically like every news magazine does with their sliders ya'know).
To avoid misunderstanding .. this - of course - cannot be done automatically... rather by manual Input.

Attached a sample which does even more by displaying the post title above the slider which is not necessary.

Anyone an idea how to achieve this? Grateful for all hints...
