I've conducted some more testing and the issue is definitely with WordPress.
If I log into WordPress so that I can comment the NBC Sports website comes to a crawl. If I log out it's normal load speeds. Log back in it's a crawl. Clear the browser cache and it's still the same. Use different PCs, it's still the same. Rebooting it's still the same.
BTW, logged in here I don't experience the slow load speeds. All is normal here. I can load pages fine.
